B. INSPECT THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF THE FLANGE AT THE COMBINING
TRANSMISSION END OF BALANCED CROSS SHAFT, P/N 145D3504-2. PAY
PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE LUG AREAS ADJACENT TO THE THREE BOLTS
WHICH ATTACH THE CROSS SHAFT TO THE ADAPTER ASSEMBLY P/N
145D3500-14, -11, OR -17.
C. ANY SCRATCHES OR SCORING OF THE SHAFT IN THIS AREA INDICATES
PROBABLE CONTACT BETWEEN THE SHAFT AND THE FAIRING ACCESS DOORS.
THE INTERFERENCE MUST BE CORRECTED AND THE DAMAGE TO THE CROSS SHAFT
MUST BE EVALUATED AND REPAIRED OR THE CROSS SHAFT REPLACED.
D. INSPECT THE ACCESS DOOR TO DETERMINE THE CONFIGURATION OF
THE ALIGNMENT PIN LOCATED IN THE FORWARD INBOARD CORNER.
(1) IF THE ALIGNMENT PIN CONSISTS OF A LOCKBOLT, SPACER
AND COLLAR WITH THE COLLAR AGAINST THE INNER SURFACE OF THE DOOR, AS
SHOWN IN FIGURE 1, DETAIL B, IT MUST BE REPLACED.

SPACER, WASHER AND COLLAR WITH COLLAR AGAINST THE OUTER SURFACE OF

HEAD FACES INBOARD AND THE INSTALLATION IS SECURE. THIS PIN
CONFIGURATION DOES NOT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.
(3) IF THE ALIGNMENT PIN IS MISSING, IT SHOULD BE
INSTALLED/REPLACED.
9. CORRECTION PROCEDURES -
A. BALANCED CROSS SHAFT WHICH EXHIBIT SCORING DAMAGE ON THE
OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF THE LUGS SHOULD BE EVALUATED AND REPAIRED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
(1) BLEND SCORES BY REMOVING RIDGES OR TORN MATERIAL USING
EMERY CLOTH GGG-C-520, 220 GRIT, OR EQUIVALENT.
(2) BLENDED AREAS SHOULD TRANSITION SMOOTHLY INTO
SURROUNDING MATERIAL. DO NOT INCREASE DEPTH.
(3) MAXIMUM DEPTH OF BLENDED AREA SHALL NOT EXCEED 0.025
INCH.

HOLES SHOULD BE FILLED WITH MIL-S-8802 SEALANT, EC2216 ADHESIVE OR
EQUIVALENT.
