             74-22278, Boeing build number B-697, was a CH-47C helicopter. The U.S. Army acceptance date was 30 September 1975. 74-22278 accumulated 2,875.0 aircraft hours. At some point, 74-22278 was assigned to the 213th Assault Support Helicopter Company (ASHC) - "Blackcats", located at Camp Humphreys (near Osan) in the Republic of Korea (ROK) (South Korea), and remained there until it was inducted into the D model conversion program. In approximately late 1988, the 213th ASHC was re-designated A Company - "Blackcats", 2nd Battalion. 501st Aviation Regiment. On 28 August 1989, 74-22278 was inducted into the D model program and converted to 89-00165. The last known location of 74-22278 was at Boeing during the conversion. Aircraft status: Converted to D model.

 

 

             The following two photographs show 74-22278 in the Republic of Korea (South Korea) in late 1987. The 213th ASHC had reported 100 percent Operational Readiness (OR), and flew all 16 assigned aircraft to prove it. The pictures below are of 74-22278 as it was taxiing back into parking.
