   In July 1962, the Department of Defense redesignated all U. S. military aircraft to a new system. All HC-1B helicopters became CH-47A.

   At some point, 61-02421 was possibly in storage at Davis Monthan through about September 1991.

   On 1 November 1991, 61-02421 was inducted into the D model program and converted to 91-00269.

   As of 1 November 1991, the last known location of 61-02421 was at Boeing during the conversion.
