             06-08720, Boeing Vertol Tab Number M8720, was a CH-47F helicopter. The U.S. Army acceptance date was 30 September 2008. As of 30 September 2008, 06-08720 accumulated 9.5 aircraft hours. 06-08720 was a new build airframe with all new components installed. 06-08720 was initially assigned to B Company - "Flippers", 3rd General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB), 82nd Airborne Division, located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. At some point, in early 2009, 06-08720 was deployed with the "Flippers" in support of contingency operations during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). On 13 June 2009, 06-08720 experienced an aft droop stop failure and during engine shut down an aft rotor blade contacted the fuselage causing structural damage. As of 15 August 2009, the last known location of 06-08720 was at Kandahar, Afghanistan. Aircraft status: Undergoing repair, but otherwise flyable.
