             A U.S. Army Chinook helicopter takes off from Bagram Air Base on Wednesday, 1 May 2002. A team of 200 U.S. soldiers were deployed by the helicopters to search a village near the Pakistan border after Australian special operations troops came under fire by unidentifed assailants.

Operation Torii is a coalition operation consisting of over 400 members from the United States, Canadian Army, and the Afghanistan Military Forces (AMF) to gather intelligence. They also exploited and denied entrance to four underground sites in the Tora Bora region. The area was bombed this past December by 2000 pound GPS guided bombs called Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) in support of Operation Enduring freedom. The CH-47 Chinook and the JDAM are both manufactured by Boeing.
